I’m helpful and I’m happy—the “blue heart” volunteers of Daqiao Street joined in the Red House volunteer staff

5 December 2011 –the 26th International Volunteer Day is also the 5th Shanghai “5 December” Volunteer Action Day. Early in the morning, the busy “red vests” were all around the hall of Outpatient department of the Yangpu Branch. These “red vests” came from the “blue heart” volunteer staff of Daqiao Street Yangpu District, and today was the first day of their volunteer service in the Red House Yangpu Branch. With the help of Gu Yuping of the social work department, the volunteers took action at 7am. They offered counceling to patients enquiring about registration, answering every question with smile and giving heartfelt help to those who need it. Director of Party Office Li Xuelian welcomed the volunteers and appreciated that the community volunteers joined in our hospital to help patients. She hoped that the two parties could work together to contribute to the building of harmonious society.

It is learned that before Shanghai Volunteer Action Day, the “blue heart” volunteer staff of Daqiao Street received pre-service training at the Yangpu Branch, to learn about the specific circumstances of our hospital and job contents and requirements. This was helpful for their volunteer service here. In the future, they will periodically come to volunteer, help to build the harmony in the hospital, and spread love to everyone who needs it, carrying forward the spirit of “devoted to others, self enhanced”.
