The ultrasound department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University (Shanghai Red House hospital) was established in the late 70s’ of 20th century. As one of the pioneer units of obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound in China, we always pay close attention to the development of international obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound in the near 30 years. We carried out a variety of ultrasound in gynecology and obstetrics, including transvaginal ultrasound, interventional ultrasound, color Doppler ultrasound, three-dimensional ultrasound,contrast-enhanced ultrasound and so on. Currently, ultrasound diagnoses of reproductive endocrine diseases in gynecology, gynecologic cancer, fetal malformation screening, high-risk obstetric ultrasound, fetal echocardiography and so on are in line with international standards. In 1996, ultrasound department was first reported in ultrasound-guided transvaginal puncture, oocyte retrieval, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer. We successfully conducted the first case of ultrasound-mediated intrauterine fetal transfusion in East China on 30 September 2006. 

Among 34 doctors, we have one post-doctorate, two PhD, 13 MA, one PhD undergraduate, two MA undergraduate. Our department currently has one full professor, 6 deputy directors of physicians. There are 5 Master Tutors in our department. Gynecology reproductive endocrinology ultrasound, gynecological cancer ultrasound, fetal malformation screening, high risk obstetrical ultrasound and fetal echocardiography are always our main direction of study. Ultrasound department of our hospital has become the East China region and the country's main ultrasound consultation departments for Obstetrics and Gynecology difficult cases, and is one of the Shanghai Key Subject (Obstetrics and Gynecology) construction projects study members. Ultrasound department also undertake and participate in a number of National Natural Science Foundation, the National Eighth and Ninth five-year Plan, the Ministry of Health Research Projects, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau and other research projects. 

More than 100 articles (SCI Indexed 2) had been published in authority and core journals acted as first authors, edited books include "Transvaginal ultrasound study ", "Prenatal Diagnosis”,” Gynecological and Obstetric ultrasound map” and other professional works in the preparation of numerous papers and books. 

In recent years, in order to serve the clinical medicine and patients better, our hardware construction also continues to improve, including increasing the ultrasound clinic, ultrasonic electronic graphics workstations, and electronic line calling system. There are 26 units in the high-end ultrasound diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound GE VOLUSON E8 and 3 units of portable ultrasound equipment for critically ill patients and surgical patients; 30 examination rooms; ultrasonic electronic graphics workstations ; electronic queuing and calling system, etc.
