Through decades of development and improvement, the radiology department of Obstetrical and Gynecological Hospital, has already set up the mature rules in diagnostic radiology and interventional therapy as well as taken a lead to establish the quality control standard for Hysterosalpingography (HSG) from Shanghai radiology diagnosis quality-control center.

Devices and equipments in our radiology department have been fully digitalized. The department has an earlier start in introducing 1.5T MRI, which is of great significance to the improvement of  levels of diagnosis of gynecological diseases, guiding clinical practice and scientific research work. MRI in the prenatal diagnosis, which characterizes no radiation, multi-parameter/multi-directional imaging, high resolution of soft tissue, functional imaging and other advantages, has obvious advantages in early detection of diseases associated with foetus. Early intervention as soon as possible can be instructive and therefore would benefit the community and family.

1 sets of advanced plate digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is applied, which is mainly used for minimally invasive interventional therapy of diseases related to gynecology & obstetrics. In addition, 2 sets of the latest three-dimensional Full Field Digital Mammography, 3 sets of digital C-arm X ray machines(Ultimax), 2 digital radiography (DR)，1 mobile DR，and 1 dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Networked PACS system helps imaging information to be shared and achieves remote diagnosis between two different hospital areas, which promotes diagnosis efficiency greatly.

Since early 1990s, the fallopian tube using coaxial catheter Selective salpingography (SSG) + fallopian tube recanalization (FTR) has been developed for tubal factor infertility and accordingly pregnancy rate was significantly improved. Self-made device to the patients almost achieves painless to finish HSG.

Vascular interventional technology is widely used whose popularity has been confirmed by all ages of patients and it has a very significant effect on gynecological & obstetrical diseases with indications for its minimally invasiveness and retaining the uterus and fertility.

The radiology department owns a strong technical force of diagnostic radiology and interventional therapy. It comprises 14 doctors in total, 2 with advanced technical job title, 1 MD, 7 masters, 19 technicians and 1 nurse. Director of Shanghai Medical Imaging Research Institute, the famous expert in radiology, Prof. Zhou Kangrong is invited to make a joint diagnosis of complex difficult cases weekly.

Up to 10000 HSG cases, 3000 SSG and vascular interventional cases as well as 5000 images consultation from other hospitals are accomplished for each year in our department.

Our goal is achieving to establish an obstetrics & gynecology specialty radiology department with a high level of academics.
