Breast surgery department is among the feature departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Fudan University. Since the foundation, it has developed into a well-known department step by step. Now, there are altogether eleven doctors, including one chief doctor, one vice chief doctor, four senior attending doctors. Among them, two have doctor degree, seven have master degree. The doctors dedicate themselves to helping women patients to get rid of all kinds of mammary diseases by means of their noble medical ethics and superb medical skills. The breast surgery ward has sixteen beds. The professional nursing team with abundant experience, along with the comfortable environment assure full preparation before surgery and quick recovery after surgery for the patients. The department has various advanced diagnostic and treatment equipments, such as digital mammography, color ultrasonography, mammary magnetic resonance imaging, mammary ductoscopy, Mammotome excision system. All these can provide patients with high quality imaging examination and advanced treatment methods. Excellent doctors with advanced equipments provide patients with comprehensive medical services. The departments includes inpatient ward, outpatient clinic (feature clinic and VIP complicated clinic), physical examination department (physical examination centre and census) and outpatient operating room. There are thousands inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually. The outpatient clinic opens from Monday to Saturday , with above one thousand patients per month.

The department puts emphasis on the comprehensive treatment of malignant mammary neoplasms, minimal invasive excision operation and mammary plastic surgery. The incidence of breast cancer is rising rapidly recent years, and the proportion of young women is larger than before. Breast cancer needs systemetic treatment as well as surgery. The department has abundant experience in this area. Over two hundred breast cancer surgeries are undergone in this department each year. And in the meantime, it can provide standard adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery, neo-adjuvant chemotherapy before surgery, endocrine treatment of breast cancer, targeted treatment and so on. The department can also provide patients with detection of some genes related to breast cancer, so that patients can receive sensitive chemotherapy to make treatment more efficient. Ultrasound-guided minimal invasive excision of breast lesions is the strength of the department. It can meet the needs of complete excision of breast lesion as well as comestic effect for appropriately selected patients.The department undergo hundreds of such surgeries each year. It has published several articles and held or participated many conferences in this area. The department also has experience in breast plastic surgery, such as nipple invagination correction, the placement of breast implants after mastectomy huge breast reduction surgery and so on. Such surgery treats patients physically and mentally as well.
